We wanted to make sure all our clients who are interested in qualifying for Meaningful Use Incentives know how using 1-800 Notify services can help you achieve your goal.

1-800 Notify Appointment Reminders and Preventative Care/Follow-up/Wellness Reminders are 100% in support Meaningful Use criteria.  The details are below and attached are the two Meaningful Use menu measures supplied from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
There are several specific criteria that we support in Stages 1 and 2 and those criteria we anticipate supporting in Stage 3 (2016/2017).

Stage 1 (2011-2012): Menu Item #4: Patient Reminders

Eligible Provider (EP) Objective: 
Send reminders to patients per patient preference for preventative follow-up care.
More than 20 percent of all patients 65 years or older or 5 years old or younger were sent an appropriate reminder during the EHR reporting period.

Stage 2 (2014)

Core Objective (3): Record Demographics (preferred language)

Record demographics including preferred language, among other items.  1-800 Notify supports sending of messages to patients using the preferred language information from your EHR.
Core Objective (12): Preventative Care
Use clinically relevant information to identify patients who should receive reminders for preventive/follow-up care and send these patients the reminders, per patient preference.
Measure:  More than 10 percent of all unique patients who have had 2 or more office visits with the EP within the 24 months before the beginning of the EHR reporting period were sent a reminder, per patient preference when available.

Core Objective (13): Provide Education Resources to Patient

Use clinically relevant information from Certified EHR Technology to identify patient-specific 

education resources and provide those resources to the patient.  1-800 Notify supports sending reminders to patients to alert them (or provide direct links via email or text message) to relevant health information on your patient portal or elsewhere.  1-800 Notify also supports sending of relevant health information via its reminder technology.

Stage 3 ( 2016 - 2017) - (using currently available information)


NOTE: As of writing this article, these Stage 3 Criteria have not been finalized. However we anticipate supporting the following:

Certification Criteria: Patient Preferred Means of Communication

Certification criteria: HITSC to identify what the communication preferences
options should be for the clinical summary, reminders, patient educational material
objectives (this will correlate to the patient’s preferred format in each of these
objectives). Providers should have the option to select options that are technically
feasible for them, these could include: Email, text, patient portal, telephone,
regular mail.

Objective/Measure: Reminders per Patient Preference for Follow-Up/Preventative 

EP Objective: Use clinically relevant clinical, social, or family history
information (beyond demographics) to identify patients who should
receive reminders for preventive/follow-up care
EP Measure: More than 20% of all unique patients who have had one
office visit with the EP within the 24 months prior to the beginning of the
EHR reporting period were sent a reminder for preventive or follow-up
care (does not include appointments), in the format of the patient’s
preference (e.g., telephone, text, email), if the provider has the technical
