FollowSetting Up Text Messaging (Using Our System Contacts Capability)
How to set up Text Messaging for your patients using our system.
NOTE: You may also be able to set up Text Messaging in your scheduling system, please contact our Support Team to find out more: support@1800notify.com and we would be happy to help you. Learn more about sample text messages and codes used.
Step 1: Ask our Support Team to modify your message to allow a Text Message version. Note that text messages should be limited to 160 characters, so it is likely that you will need to keep your messages very short without as much detail as you might be giving in the phone message.
Step 2: Determine the name of the person and their primary phone number that is used to call them. (For the Text Messaging function, we consider this the Home number in our system, even if it is actually the person's mobile or work number.)
If you don't know the phone number we used to call them, you can log into your account and click on the INFO tab at the top of the page. and see what is listed for them in the PHONE column at the bottom of the page. For example, lets say John Holt in the image below wanted to receive text messages instead of phone calls from your organization. So, first we need to see what his phone number is. We can see here that it is (386) 555-2222.

Step 3: Click on the CONTACTS tab at the top.
Step 4: Look to see if the contact is already listed, you can search for the person's last name in the search box. If the person is not in your contacts list on the system, then click the NEW button and fill in the fields as follows.
First and Last Name
Set Notification Preference to *SMS
*(SMS means Short Message Service or Text Message)
Put their phone number we used to call them into the HOME PHONE field
(even if it is their Work or Mobile number). Our system keys the Text Messaging preference on the Home number and that must match the number we use to try to call this person.
Make sure to put their mobile phone number in the correct field as shown.
Click SAVE and your done!

TIP: If this person's primary number (shown as HOME PHONE) changes in your system, or their MOBILE NUMBER changes (shown as MOBILE PHONE), you must come back in and change it in their contact record in our system in order for Text Messaging to continue working.
